What is a boodle fight?
A boodle fight is a very Filipino way of eating together. The food — rice, grilled meat and fish, vegetables and dipping sauces — is laid out down the length of a long table, traditionally on banana leaves, and everyone eats side by side with their hands (kamayan), starting at the same time. The tradition comes from the Philippine military, where officers and soldiers shared the same food at the same table as a sign of brotherhood and equality; “boodle” is old military slang for food. Today a boodle fight is a favourite for birthdays, reunions, team-building and any time the barkada gets together.
How to have a group feast at Fiestahan
Fiestahan's sharing platters are built for exactly this kind of meal — one big spread in the middle of the table:
- Iniwow sa Bilao — our house sharing platter and number-one best seller: a mixed grill of fish, beef and chicken on a woven bilao.
- Barkada Feast — a ready-made group feast that serves 8 people.
- Seafood Bilao and Minaluto — seafood sharing platters, the Minaluto served over rice.
- Pancit Bilao — bihon, canton or mixed noodles on a bilao, a must at any Filipino celebration.
Round it out with bowls of Bacolod Cansi or Batangas Bulalo, a sizzling Fiesta Sisig and Halo-Halo for dessert. Not sure how much to order? Tell us your group size and our team will suggest the right combination.
